The Wanganui Glass Group is hosting the fourth annual Festival of Glass from September 19th to October 4th 2009. Building on the success of previous years, this year there is increased involvement from other arts groups and the community, providing a more complete visitor experience.

One of the Highlights for this year will be acclaimed American glass artist, Josh Simpson’s visit from 19-26 September which will see him do a public lecture, demonstration and workshop.

This year there will be more entertainment in the evenings with artist’s talks, the classical music society and the jazz club performing at various venues around Wanganui during the festival.

There will be a wider range of exhibitions this year with collaborations with the Wanganui Camera Club and an exhibition of glass works at the Sarjeant Gallery.

This year the festival will be opened in conjunction with the Wanganui Literary Festival by Minister for the Arts, Culture and Heritage, the Hon. Christopher Finlayson.
